“Happy Birthday, Charlie”

Tomorrow the boy turns 12! He made this workout and said the best part is that it’s his birthday so he can choose not to do it. It also happens to be Groundhog Day. If the groundhog sees his shadow, you can add 6 more rounds to this workout.

Workout for Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021 —

Cash In: 1200m Row (sub run or 2x bike)

9 Rounds of:

12 Deadlifts (135/95)

2 Power Cleans

2 Push Jerks

Cash Out: 1200m Row (sub run or 2x bike)

Why 9 rounds? Because he was born in 2009…and it seemed more humane than 12 rounds…especially if the groundhog sees his shadow.

Deadlifts should be on the lighter side, but the cleans and push jerk should be a challenge. If you don’t have heavy weights, you can double the reps of the cleans and push jerk or you can do 4 clusters instead of the cleans and jerks to make it more difficult.

If deadlifts just aren’t your jam, or this many is a no go for you, you can sub some kind of leg exercise: pistols, weighted set ups, goblet squats. Just make sure it doesn’t take too long since this workout is already on the longer side.

Afterbash = Eat Cake.
